Curriculum Vitae

Born in 1975 in Malatya, Dr. Furkan Erol Karabekmez completed his medical education at Istanbul University, Istanbul Faculty of Medicine, graduating in 1999. He pursued his residency training in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery at Selçuk University Meram Faculty of Medicine and successfully completed his specialization in 2009.

Following his specialization, Dr. Furkan Erol Karabekmez expanded his academic and scientific career internationally by working as a Research Fellow in the Department of Plastic Surgery at the Mayo Clinic in the United States for 15 months. Subsequently, he continued collaborative scientific studies with the same institution as a Research Collaborator.

Between 2010 and 2012, he completed his compulsory medical service at Konya Training and Research Hospital and Ağrı State Hospital. In 2012, he was appointed as an Assistant Professor at Abant İzzet Baysal University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery. During this period, he also worked as a visiting fellow in Münster, Germany. In the same timeframe, he obtained his specialization authorization in Oral, Maxillofacial and Jaw Surgery from the Ministry of Health.

Dr. Furkan Erol Karabekmez was awarded the title of Associate Professor in 2014 and served as an Education Officer and Training Supervisor at Keçiören Training and Research Hospital. Between 2019 and 2021, he worked as a Consultant Plastic Surgeon at Aldar Hospital in Saudi Arabia. Since 2021, he has been continuing his professional practice at his clinic in Ankara. Concurrently, he serves as the educational coordinator at Ankara Medipol University Plastic Surgery Clinic, where he delivers academic lectures.

Dr. Furkan Erol Karabekmez has authored a total of 58 scientific publications, 39 of which are international.

He has received four research grants from TÜBİTAK and University Scientific Research Projects (BAP). After successfully passing the written and oral examinations of the European Board of Plastic Surgery, he earned the FEBOPRAS title and subsequently obtained the Turkish equivalent, the Turkish Board Certification in Plastic Surgery. He currently serves as a Reviewer Board member for Frontiers of Surgery and as an Editorial Board member for Pediatric Urology Case Reports.

Dr. Furkan Erol Karabekmez has advanced proficiency in English, is married, and is the father of three children.
